For the past 14 years, urban ink productions has played a unique and important role within the local and national arts community by creating, producing and disseminating original Canadian works created by Indigenous and Intercultural artists.
We believe that the voices of Indigenous and Intercultural artists provide a new perspective and are essential to the cultural conversation. Urban ink is providing a place for these artists to have their voices heard through professional theatre. Telling our own stories from our own unique voice. We have a responsibility to change the narrative for indigenous and intercultural people to be a more accurate reflection of our perspectives.
I come into this position with a great sense of appreciation for the road that has been paved for me. Marie Clements and Diane Roberts poured themselves into this company and we honour them in our work moving forward.
