LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the territory that we share our stories on. To the
Traditional Owners, Elders, Ancestors, and Young Leaders of these territories: We acknowledge, with full respect, the strength and excellence of Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) and communities fighting to protect and look after Land, Community, Language and Lore. In particular we acknowledge and pay our respects to the sovereign peoples of the xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl’ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) on whose unceded land Urban Ink is based. Always was, always will be, sacred Indigenous land.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Urban Ink is producing the TRANSFORM FESTIVAL for its sixth year. The production is being presented at the Vancouver Playhouse in November 2025 and we are looking for new acts to feature!
Auditions will take place on January 23rd, 2025.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The TRANSFORM FESTIVAL will be featuring incredible interdisciplinary performances all centrestage at the iconic Vancouver Playhouse! The festival continues to focus on creating opportunities for collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists. We are looking for performers in a variety of performance styles including theatre, music, drag, circus, dance, comedy and everything in between. We want to meet you!
AUDITION SUBMISSION DEADLINE: due by Friday, January 17th, 2025 at 5 PM PST. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Through the Google Form (found here: https://forms.gle/puyGvuGPJSDVg5V9A ), please provide your personal information, and include a resume and headshot.
If you are unable to submit via the form and/or have other accessibility needs, please email auditions@urbanink.ca with subject line “Transform Audition Submission Support.”
If you are invited to audition, you will be asked to perform in the style of your choice for 5 minutes – this can include, but is not limited to: theatre, music, drag, circus, dance, comedy, and everything in between. Following your performance, we will have a short discussion regarding your interest in collaboration with other artists.
We can also accept self-tapes from National and International artists in order to accommodate performers if needed.
Thank you to all who submit. However, due to the high volume of submissions, we will only contact artists who are invited to an audition.
CASTING BREAKDOWN
PERFORMERS (of any style) – Indigenous and Non-Indigenous roles of all ages and of all gender expressions.
ETHNOCULTURAL MANDATE OR CASTING STATEMENT:
We are actively seeking submissions from artists of all backgrounds, abilities, and ethnicities as we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion within this selection process. We especially encourage performers of these communities to submit: Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour, Gender Diverse and Gender Non-Conforming, LGBTQIA2S+, d/Deaf, Disabled/People with Disabilities, and/or Neurodiverse.
